Cornell AI & Vision for Earth

Bharath Hariharan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. He completed his PhD at UC Berkeley advised by Jitendra Malik and was a postdoctoral researcher at Facebook AI Research. He works on computer vision and machine learning, particularly on important problems that defy the "Big Data" label, marrying advances in machine learning with insights from computer vision, geometry and domain-specific knowledge.

Kavita Bala is the Provost of Cornell University and Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Her research spans computer vision, computer graphics, and human perception, including recognition (material recognition, visual search), modeling (material and shape acquisition, fabric modeling), rendering (realistic, physically-based rendering), and perception (translucency, material and lighting perception).

Shreelekha works on multi-modal foundation models that reason about temporal events through visual, textual and temporal information. She creates large-scale multi-modal systems with applications in archaeology, grape pathology, and other domains. Currently on "student sabbatical" at Planet Labs.

Chia-Hsiang's research focuses on cross-modal learning and reasoning with the goal of building robust, trustworthy, and interpretable AI systems.

Rajeev works on building scalable multimodal AI systems that can learn under minimal supervision, generalize to unseen tasks, and produce interpretable outputs.

Utkarsh is an Assistant Professor at MBZUAI. He completed his PhD at Cornell, focusing on vision-language models and their applications in Earth observation.

Cheng is a Software Engineer at Waymo. Prior to Waymo, he was a postdoctoral research scientist at Apple. He received his PhD from Cornell.
